If it gets to be too much work you can always bite of small chunks of another open source xTalk: runrev/livecode https://github.com/runrev/livecode

I'm seeking any and all hypercard stacks to aid in development of a Free hypercard clone.

The intent is to use be able to use hypercard stacks on any platform, well anything at least as modern as A/UX 3.1 anyway.

If you know of any actual stack archives on the internet please let me know.

TIA

The HC pantechnicon sounds like the resource you asked for.

But as Muaadh mentioned, unless this is simply a huge labor of love that you wish to undertake, LiveCode has already done exactly what you mentioned. And they know all about HC. And it is free.

http://stacksmith.org could use some people interested in porting it to other platforms than just MacOS … just saying.

Hi Tim,

Wow! This sounds great!

There are a few archives that I know of:

http://hypercard.org/Pantechnicon - this is an archive of all the stacks
that were once available on the HyperCard Pantechnicon

http://umich.edu/~archive/mac/hypercard/ - this is the university of
Michigan's HyperCard archives

http://pantechnicon.net76.net/pantechnicon-aol-mhc-artefacts.zip - this is
a re-ordered archive of the stacks once available on the AOL HyperCard
pages. See my post ('The Pantechnicon is now online!' dated 12 July) for
more info about this.

Good luck with your HyperCard clone.

Andrew

Thanks everyone. I've downloaded those stacks and soon I'll test them. As to the reason, there was NO free option when I started.

I am interested in your project.
How do you propose to do it ?With C++, Java, Javascript, LiveCode, or what?

It was initially going to be in C, but I ended up using all perl. The TK front end is the hangup right now.
