Eric, thanks for the pointer. I'd like to try playing with it,
but I don't understand github. What do I download from your
linked page to run the emulator on OSX?

I don't use Mac, so I can't test this (I use Linux, like Eric) but I do
know GitHub.

On the upper right-hand side of the page there is a green "Clone or
download" button. Clicking this reveals an menu which has an option
"Download Zip". Extract this zip, then run the app "Mini vMac".

Aha! That did it. Not sure how useful it will be, but it sure is
nostalgic!!!

Thanks.
